Fermentation Development Scientist

Main Functions

  • Optimise fermentations in terms of yields and stability by working at small scale and factory scale,
  • Be involved in troubleshooting problems with fermentations at factory scale,
  • Prepare seed fermentations for inoculation of the factory scale fermenters,
  • Any others related tasks.

Technical skills

Required

  • Experience in at least laboratory-scale fermentation (this could be at university doesn’t need to be commercial)
  • HNC/D or Degree qualification in biochemical engineering or fermentation science or biotechnology.

An asset

  • Knowledge of issues related to scale-up
  • Working knowledge of continuous centrifuge operations and options
  • Working knowledge of cryo-protectant options and freeze dryer operation
