Business Unit Analyst

Main Functions

Reporting to the Business Unit Controller, your main responsibilities  will include operations, accounting and reporting. You will assist the Business Unit Controller in the day-to-day accounting & operations activities, results analysis, budgets and preparation of ad-hoc documents / ad-hoc projects.  With many innovative new product launches and strong business unit growth expected over the next few years; this will truly be an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate and wants to learn in an international environment!

Tasks associated with this position also include, but may not be limited to:

• Developing and automating standardized reports (Example, P&L report by sales representative, cost reports, production variances).
• Analysis of trends and results pertaining to sales, operations, SG&A expenses, customers, products, financial ratios;
• Preparing regular and ad-hoc reports & dashboards.
• Inventory and Plant variances reconciliation and analysis.
• Assisting accounting tasks and support for the different entities within the business unit, accounting questions, audit process and governance file.
• Special assignments and projects as the business grows and evolves.

Technical skills

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, finance or other related field.
• 1-2 years of experience with Data Analysis/Finance/Accounting.
• Experience with cost accounting, standard costs and production variances analysis.
• Advanced MS Excel knowledge.

An asset

• Knowledge of IBM Cognos BI & Power BI.
• Experience in project accounting.
• Experience with a multi-currency and inter-company/inter-division transactions.

Personal abilities

• Good team player.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese, German is an asset.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and have good problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical skills, organized and reliable; able to juggle multiple streams of work, keep things on track and consistently meet deadlines for processing work, with a strong attention to detail.
• Self-aware, reflective, and able to learn from mistakes. Shows an ability to learn quickly while on the job.
• Not afraid to speak up and make suggestions for areas for improvement.
• Desire to learn continuously.
