Business Unit Assistant Controller

Main Functions

Reporting to the Business Unit Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible to contribute and maintain the accounting and financial processes of the Business Unit and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Main responsibilities for the role are described below.

  • Perform monthly analysis, reconciliation, and variance review for the business unit consolidated financials by understanding the full accounting cycle
  • Review processes and reports and implement improvements where needed
  • Participate in annual audits, tax audits and governance meetings
  • Provide support and guidance to entity controllers within the business unit to ensure best practices are in place and strong internal controls are practiced
  • Assist in preparation yearly budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc reports for management.

Technical skills


  • Accountant title CPA ,CA,CMA, CGA
  • Experience with Manufacturing, cost accounting, standard costs and production variances analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

An asset

  • Experience with an International company using multi-currency and inter-company transactions
  • Knowledge of IBM Cognos BI & Power BI
