Data Analytics Internship

Main Functions

The Data Analytics Intern will be assisting in operationalizing the most urgent data and analytics initiatives for Lallemand’s digital business initiatives and support data extraction, transformation, and loading to help advance operational efficiencies. Upon completion of the internship, a part-time or full-time job opportunity is likely.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Gain an understanding of the principles of yeast production processes (fermentation, CIP, quality control, and other associated processes).
  • Gain a basic understanding of IT/OT/QC/... infrastructure of Lallemand’s production plants.
  • Retrieve, aggregate, analyze, and visualize data from various source systems for troubleshooting & improving efficiency.
  • Work with key business stakeholders, IT experts, and subject-matter experts to devise and deliver optimal analytics and data science solutions.
  • Assist operations department with creating reports, troubleshooting issues, and ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Help develop standard operating procedures documents related to data management.
  • Work on a variety of projects; participate in department meetings and activities.
  • Implement processes to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Learn and use modern data preparation, integration, and metadata management tools and techniques.
  • Research discrepancies and identify the root cause of errors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend system improvements by studying current practices.

Technical skills


  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of data with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current senior, or graduate student at an accredited college or university – studying Engineering, Robotics, and/or Data Analytics.
  • Experience with common data analytics tools (SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, SAS, Spark, etc.) and/or databases (SQL & time-series) and/or CRM software is highly beneficial.

Personal abilities


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate discrepancies in information.
  • Ability to work well on a team and an eagerness to learn.
