Territory Business Manager Dairy – Northern California, Oregon and Washington

Main Functions

The Territory Business Manager will represent Lallemand Animal Nutrition (LAN) in the dairy market, providing sales and support to existing clients and potential customers.  Key responsibilities of the successful candidate is to promote the value of LAN probiotics, inoculants, yeast derivatives and technical support services in the territory-Northern California, Oregon and Washington.  The position reports to the Western Dairy Team Manager.

Responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Principle contact for sales to LAN customers in assigned territory
  • Must work in a team environment utilizing internal LAN technical resources and distributor partners
  • Generate sales growth by working with existing customers and distributors to support their efforts and by identifying and securing new customers in the territory
  • Manage territory sales support, prospecting and client relationships effectively to maximize sales growth
  • Ability to organize meetings and events with clients, distributors and prospects in which LAN can present technical expertise and innovative solutions
  • Attend key dairy organization conventions and meetings and professionally represent LAN at those meetings
  • Keen presentation abilities
  • Must be able to present product information to nutritionists as well as at the farm level to producers and dairy employees
  • Resolve product or service problems by clarifying the customer's concern; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustments; following up to ensure resolution
  • Actively participate in identifying new market opportunities within LAN's core competencies
  • Manage time and travel efficiently
  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of a sales budget & business plan

Technical skills

Required

  • Degree in Animal Science, nutrition or equivelant experience
  • Strong Relationship Building Skills

An asset

  • Knowledge in ruminant nutrition, silage management and fermentation
  • Dairy and/or beef production background preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Personal abilities

Required

  • Self Starter with the ability to work independently without daily supervision in an entrepreneurial setting

  • Comfortable and confident working in commercial dairy operations settings

General criteria

Required

  • Overnight Travel 40-60%
  • Residing in Northern Central Valle of California (Merced or Stanislaus County), consideration would be give to areas within the territory as described.
