QC/QA Assistant

Main Functions

The laboratory technician will:

  • Be in charge of managing samples and finished product compositing;
  • Perform physical-chemical tests (pH, salt, turbidity etc.) and organize sensory analyses;
  • Ship production samples to external/internal labs and maintain communications;
  • Enter results into the Lallemand QC database;
  • Update laboratory SOPs;
  • Order lab supplies and update lab suppliers approval log;
  • Order lab chemicals and manage lab chemicals inventory;
  • Perform environmental swabbing
  • Assists Quality Manager in carrying out glass, brittle plastic monitoring;
  • Cover some duties of the Quality Manager during vacation;
  • Organize retention samples and their electronic management;
  • Keep the laboratory clean and calibrate lab equipment;
  • Perform other duties as required;

 

Technical skills

Required

  • Knowledge of GMP & GLP
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft application

An asset

  • Familiar with physico-chemical analytical techniques, aseptic sampling and sensory analysis
  • B.Sc. or technical degree in food science, microbiology, biology, biochemistry or related field and/or similar experience

Personal abilities

Required

  • Comfortable in a plant environment
  • Strong analytical, organization and time management skills

General criteria

Required

  • This position involves being approximately 50% of the time in the lab, 30% of the time in an office, and 20% of the time in the plant.
