Research Assistant

Main Functions

As an entry-level position, the main functions of a Research Assistant will involve working with Research and Development to conduct routine beer and potable ethanol fermentations. This will entail handling Bio Safety Level 1 microbiological samples, executing product development projects, and training interns on basic laboratory techniques. The candidate will also interact with the global corporate R&D and quality control teams to assist in developing Brewing-centric solutions.

The candidate will also assist in maintaining a safe and clean laboratory environment, which includes:

  • Brewing operations on our 100L brewing system;
  • Brewing system upkeep;
  • Weekly laboratory upkeep;
  • Setting up and taking part in beer and other alcoholic beverage sensory trials.


Technical skills


  • Good laboratory hygiene
  • Technical communication skills
  • Experience with basic microbiological techniques and protocols, including aseptic handling of microorganisms
  • Execution of experiments
  • Routine laboratory sample collection and organization

An asset

  • Previous sensory training
  • Food Science or Brewery experience

Personal abilities


  • Good organizational skills

  • Fluency in both French and English

  • Occasional weekend availability for sample collection
