Scientist, Analytical Chemistry - Reinach BL (Switzerland)

Main Functions

He/she will mainly participate in routine analytical work (predominantly LC/UV, GC/FID, Karl Fischer, Colorimetry) at different stages of our product development process, evaluation of analytical data, contribute to protocols and method development, and be involved in method validation and method transfer to external parties.

The role will be playing an important role in the development and extension of our product portfolio.


  • Perform independent hands-on experimental work utilizing liquid or gas chromatography for assay, purity, related substances, and impurities determination.
  • Support the development, optimisation, verification, and validation of analytical methods for a broad range of techniques such (U)HPLC / PDA / RID, as well as GC / FID.
  • Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.

Main tasks

  • Conduct of analytical methods for a broad range of techniques such as (U)HPLC / UV / PDA / RID or GC / FID / MS for assay, purity, related substances, and impurities determination of small molecule samples and mixtures derived from fermentation of yeast strains, down-stream processing, organic synthesis, and product formulation activities.
  • Carry out routine analysis of samples, including sample preparation, and independent data analysis of experiments.
  • Provide accurate data to support routine work and directly communicate results to internal clients from the operations team, or to your supervisor, through written reports or by using databases.
  • Collaborate with other scientists of varying disciplines and business functions (e.g., Quality, USP, DSP, Application).
  • Document all analytical activities and results timely, accurately and in a self-explanatory manner in line with the agreed standards and work processes (document lab work in agreed current tools).


  • Support of the development, optimisation, and validation of analytical methods.
  • Draft, write-up and review analytical documents (e.g., analytical methods, validation reports, stability reports) or SOPs.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

Technical skills


  • Ability and desire to execute planned tasks independently.
  • Proven hands-on experience in performing HPLC/UV and GC/FID analysis.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office products and possess experience in using CDS (Chromeleon).
  • Proficient in English (oral and written).

An asset

  • Experience in a GMP, GLP or ISO 17025 environment.

General criteria


  • Valid work permit or residence permit for Switzerland.
