Laboratory Technician I– Analytical Chemistry/Microbiology

Main Functions

Main functions 

The Laboratory Technician will join a R&D team focusing on isolation and in-depth chemical analyses of carbohydrates from plants, and organisms. Major research topics include carbohydrate extraction, separation, purification, fragmentation, chemical/enzymatic modifications, and characterization utilizing biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and immunological techniques. The candidate will also help with routinely conducted yeast/bacteria enumeration in diverse products of company through plate counting methods. The candidate should be flexible to help with routinely conducted HPLC analyses pipelines. The candidate will perform this research as part of a multi-disciplinary team solving difficult problems with insight, creativity, and skill. 

The ideal candidate will: 

²  Have an interest in bio-chemical analyses, especially around yeast, bacteria, and plant carbohydrate research;

²  Ability to learn and perform routine ELISA, HPLC, MALDI-TOF and other chromatographic/separation tools;

²  Conduct plant/yeast cell wall carbohydrate extractions and perform ELISA-based glycome profiling analyses employing diverse glycan directed probes using validated methodologies;

²  Learn and participate in the evaluation of carbohydrate structural modifications, derivatizations and analyses using range of tools including, but not limited to, HPLC, GC, and GC/MS-MS;

²  Perform MALDI-TOF based analyses of carbohydrates oligomers and profiling; 

²  Assist with routinely conduct yeast/bacteria enumeration in diverse products of company through plate counting methods.
