Main Functions

Within the Business Unit Lallemand Health Solutions, Lallemand Food Probiotics is specialized in the production and marketing of probiotics for human use to the Food & Beverage industry. Like our business partners, the company continues to grow and has become one of the most renowned suppliers of probiotics in the world.

Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager F&B, Probiotics will be responsible for the promotion of Lallemand’s specialized probiotic (and parabiotic) portfolio to Food and Beverage customers (outside dairy products). This versatile position will focus on building new business and growing sales, but it will also involve collaboration with the technical support specialist (reporting to the Business Development Manager) & marketing team. The territory is WW but with some focus in North America (US, Canada). The successful candidate will report to the VP Marketing & Sales based in France. The position can be home-office based in North America or can be located in our Head-Office close to Montreal, Canada.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support our current customers and/or distributors for all technical questions, formulations, new product development, with the help of your Technical Support Specialist
  • Upon a thorough analysis of the market needs and challenges, consumer trends and competitor landscape, define regional commercial strategies including customer segmentation, channel identification, pricing…
  • Develop and execute short and medium-term commercial plans to expand the customer pipeline in the Food & Beverage market segments.
  • Deliver the revenue and gross margin targets for the F&B business
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Work together with the customer’s R&D team, in coordination with the Technical Support specialist, to ensure that the biotic solution is smoothly integrated into the final product matrix.
  • Align go-to-market activities in the region and coordinate the approach and messaging with Lallemand’s marketing team and your Technical Support Specialist.
  • Prepare and follow up on annual sales and expense budgets. Handle Forecast and key metrics and report to stakeholders monthly.
  • Present our products at some Trade shows, conferences or CMEs organized by our partners

Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years successful experience in business development/sales or product management in the probiotics industry calling on Food & Beverage customers.
  • Strong strategic sales and thought leadership capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the profitable opportunities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of the food and beverage industry, with a focus on functional foods and nutritional ingredients and how they are applied to formulations and during manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize broad practical food science and manufacturing process knowledge to position products into various applications.
  • Experience in providing expert technical advice to customer with proven ability to translate complex technical information into customer-relevant recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across matrix organization and preferably at a global level.
  • Experience with customer relationship management software (Ideally Microsoft Dynamics)

Technical skills

  • • Customer focused and solution-oriented mindset, capable of building trusted relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

General criteria

  • Once the pandemic subsides and business travel resumes, travel for this position is estimated to be around 30%-40%.
