Senior Accountant Clerk

Main Functions

We have an exciting opportunity available for a senior accounting clerk role and a great chance to join Mascoma LLC, part of the Lallemand Group.  This role provides support to the business and finance functions with key focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly financial reporting.  This position will be located at our R&D service center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Mascoma LLC (Lebanon, New Hampshire), part of the Lallemand Corporate R&D business group, is a leader in the research and development of new industrial biotechnology products. Its team members are developing microbial products and applications that enable the efficient and sustainable production of fuels and chemicals, feed, and food products from agricultural or other biomass sources. They develop and deliver innovative technologies to create competitive advantages for customers in manufacturing focused on biological processes across all markets served by Lallemand (biofuels, baking, brewing, winemaking, distilled spirits, pharmaceuticals and probiotics, plant and animal care).

  • Follow company processes, controls and policies
  • Take action on month-end accounts payable past due accounts and open purchase orders reports.
  • Creating/Updating supplier, client and chart of accounts
  • Receive supplier invoices, perform necessary validations and execute transactions with timeliness 
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Charges expenses to accounts, cost centers and projects by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
  • Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, scheduling and preparing payments
  • Issues stop-payments
  • Concur Travel expense reports validations and approvals
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions and booking recurring month end journals such as depreciation, accruals, prepaid charges, foreign exchange gain/losses, etc…
  • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Preparing and sending invoices for R&D work conducted
  • Applying payments received
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Intercompany balances monthly reconciliation
  • Analysis of monthly trial balance compared to budget
  • Submission of monthly financial trial balance into the group consolidation system and updating all supporting forms and schedules.
  • Month end preparation of assorted reports and system entries
  • Preparation of budget file for revision and data entry
  • Follow up and preparation of quarterly capex status
  • Preparing 1099 forms for outside consultants

Technical skills


  • Office 365 (excel, word, outlook)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or related field
