Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Main Functions

Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory Manager, the role of the Clinical Lab Assistant will include, but will not necessarily be limited to:

  • Prepare the lab equipment for upcoming research experiments;
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning at peak levels;
  • Maintain laboratory logs to track samples and specimens;
  • Analyze various specimens and samples (namely feces, saliva, vaginal swabs, blood and breastmilk);
  • Perform other lab activities and provide support to lab manager;
  • Present results through scientific documents (e.g. lab notebook, internal reports, posters, etc.);
  • Keep the laboratory areas clean and safe, in respect of the internal rules and the external regulations.
  • Any other related tasks.

Technical skills

Required

  • Holds a Bachelor degree or collegial diploma (CEGEP) in Science
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or biochemistry
  • Familiar with molecular techniques and microbial physiology

Required

  • Good analytical and synthesis skills to deal with complex subjects
  • Bilingual English and French
  • Autonomy, sense of organization, rigor, attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt and judgment
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork oriented
