Business Intelligence ETL Developer

Main Functions

In collaboration with the multiple teams throughout the company, the Business Intelligence & ETL Developer will participate in the definition, development, and implementation of business intelligence solutions, to help the company evolve towards innovative decision support solutions.   In this role you must have an excellent ability to understand and translate business needs into effective solutions, both at the business and technical levels.   

Key Objectives:

  • Work within a team to design and develop complex data projects, more precisely involving Source-to-Target data mappings integration workflows, and load processes.
  • Create and maintain databases, tables, stored procedures, indexes, database check constraints, and business rules using advanced knowledge of T-SQL.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize data architecture, data quality, and system efficiency.
  • Efficiently identify and solve project issues.
  • Evaluate the overall system performance of the Cognos environment to meet business needs and avoid downtime.
  • Develop and maintain complex Framework models.
  • Help to maintain a scalable BI environment that will support current and future business growth.
  • Develop self-serve reports and dashboards as well as the design and development of underlying data structures
  • Help plan and schedule project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
  • Design and maintain technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational, presentation and customer service skills.
  • Be an active participant in the areas of mentorship and knowledge sharing.

Technical skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of ETL processes using SSIS.
  • Comprehensive data warehouse analysis and design experience, with deep knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and data modeling.
  • Highly proficient in reading and writing advanced SQL queries and experience with at least one programming language such as Java, C++, and Python.

An asset

  • Knowledge of the Cognos Suite, including Framework manager

Personal abilities

  • Good understanding of business intelligence and data analytics
  • Ability to resolve escalated problems quickly and efficiently with proven success in handling conflicting demands and priorities effectively using a proactive approach to resolving problems.
  • Excellent time-Management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual English and French an asset.
