Compliance Manager

Main Functions

Minnesota Specialty Yeast in Hutchinson, MN; a part of Lallemand’s Bio Ingredients Division, is seeking a Compliance Manager with 1 to 5 years experience in the food industry. The candidate will be responsible for the analytical and microbiological testing of incoming ingredients, in-process samples and finished goods.  Serves as a direct report for HSE compliance inquiries & requirements and government regulations regarding health, safety and environment as related to products produced and sold by MSY. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for product movement in the inventory system after release from Quality inspection.
  • Conducts monthly inventory of all hold and rework products and comparison of physical inventories to computer report.
  • Manage the maintenance of raw material specifications including the integrity of incoming materials and packaging supplies.
  • Assist in analyzing and approve incoming ingredients, in-process samples and finished goods for conformance to existing product specifications.
  • Coordinates on-line quality checks with the Production Supervisors and Plant Manager. Notifies Plant Manager of all deviations from established specifications for material and finished goods.
  • Issues Certificates of Analysis on finished products.
  • Verify appropriate MSDS information for all new products.
  • Manage OSHA reporting and Workers’ Compensation
  • Provide support to Director of Quality for crisis management (product recalls/pathogenic contamination), environmental situations and etc.
  • Control, maintains and ensure accuracy all state and government license and permits for the facility.
  • Candidate must be organized and able work with little direction.

 

Technical skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Chemistry or related field
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s and GLP’s
  • Knowledge of fermentation, blending, spray drying, roller drying, and packaging preferred
  • Experience in regulatory compliance
  • SQF Practitioner certified

Personal abilities

Required

  • Team focused approach to problem-solving
  • Supervisory experience within a Quality lab environment
  • Must work within established company and laboratory safety guidelines
