Main Functions

Lallemand Plant Care is offering a 12-week paid internship program, during which you will have the opportunity to learn all facets of the commercial function (sales, marketing, laboratory, operations), with a special focus on field trial management. 

The main mission of this internship is to provide the intern with a comprehensive overview of the commercial activities within Lallemand Plant Care. The internship aims to immerse the intern in various facets of the company, with a particular focus on field trials, technical support, sales, distribution and grower-related topics, thus allowing the intern to gain a thorough understanding and hands-on experience of the commercial department.

This internship is a unique opportunity for the candidate to gain a well-rounded experience in the North American commercial function of Lallemand Plant Care, preparing them for a future career in the industry.

Field Solutions:

  • Learn and understand the basics of field trial programs.
  • Assist the Field Solutions team during field trials visits, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Assist in design and location of replicated plot trials.

Sales:

  • Gain a basic understanding of the sales process and how it relates to agriculture.
  • Assist the Sales team to gain insight into distribution, retail, and grower-related activities.

Marketing:

  • Attend various internal meetings to understand the strategic and operational aspects of the commercial department.
  • Participate in commercial and marketing events, helping with organization, setup, and follow-up activities. Meeting customers.

Laboratory:

  • Engage in a brief introduction to the Laboratory team, observing their support activities for the Field Solutions and Sales teams.

Leadership:

  • Mentoring and exchange of experience with members of the management team.
  • Opportunity to present to the management team the summary of learning, objectives and special observations made during the internship.

Internal and external relations:

  • Internal: Work closely with all groups under the Commercial function, especially Field Solutions, Sales, Marketing and Laboratory.
  • External: Meet customers (growers, distributors, retailers).

*** Travelling time may vary depending on field visit schedules, event locations, meetings calendar and the intern’s location. 

Technical skills

Required

  • Presently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or equivalent, ideally with a focus on agriculture/plant science/agribusiness or similar field
  • Minimum one year of Bachelor completed
  • Basic knowledge of agricultural practices
  • Ability to understand and interpret field trial protocols
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Basic commercial knowledge. Familiarity with distribution and retail processes

An asset

  • Work experience related to agriculture an asset

General criteria

Required

  • Valid passport and driver’s licence are required
  • Ability to travel outside of USA on a limited basis if required
  • Legally authorized to work in USA without the company’s sponsorship
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment (eg. in the presence of chemicals and/or fire) and/or in an agricultural environment (eg. farm).
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50lbs

Other

  • Ability to drive long distances/limited overnight travel, and ability to take the plane
