Field Solutions Specialist - Broad Acres - Canada

Main Functions

Our North American Commercial function is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Field Solutions Specialist – Broad Acres for Canada, ideally located in MB, SK or AB.

Reporting to the Field Solutions Manager - Broad Acres - North America, the successful candidate will act as a technical ambassador, internally and externally, providing expert support and training to the sales team, distribution partners and growers on the technical aspects of our products and their effective use, and adapting and preparing our products for registration and launch in NA.

The Field Solutions Specialist will work in collaboration with our technical sales, marketing, product management and other internal cross-functional groups as well as with growers, crop advisors, distribution partners, key influencers, government, university and other research institutes, grower organizations and cooperatives.

Tasks associated with this position also include, but may not be limited to:

  • Provide online and in-person technical support for growers and distribution partners.
  • Provide expert-level application and trial advice.
  • Design, coordinate, analyze and interpret structured trials for regulatory requirements, marketing, and major growers (implementation).
  • Define of trial priorities and protocols in conjunction with product managers.
  • Develop technical documents to support customers in conjunction with marketing, sales managers and product managers.
  • Provide technical review and editing support for marketing collateral.
  • Adapt existing region- and crop-specific product-use recommendations and technical documents with applicable new information as it becomes available.
  • Provide prioritized recommendations to product compatibility team for compatibility testing according to market impact and needs (tank-mix, sequential, in-situ, and equipment compatibility).
  • Propose and manage trial and commercial-support travel budgets in alignment with Commercial NA priorities and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain professional networks and relationships with key influencers that project a trusted and respected technical image.

 

Technical skills

Required

  • MSc. in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years in a technical support, extension research, or IPM specialist role
  • Practical commercial, extension or grower experience in a related field
  • Experience designing and managing applied research trials
  • Direct experience with customers and other stakeholders
  • Understanding of current production practices, issues and constraints
  • Skills in project management and time management
  • Ability to execute and help develop protocols/processes
  • Experience in writing and editing technical reports
  • Experience in experimental design, statistical analyses and communication of results to both scientific and grower stakeholders
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365, and at least one standard statistical analyses package (Minitab, R, SAS, SPSS, JMP)

An asset

  • Experience in the microbial biopesticides, inoculants or biostimulants industry is an asset

General criteria

Required

  • Willingness to travel extensively across Canada. Up to 50% per year, including overnight travel. Additional international travel may occasionally occur
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort: walking in grower environments, hot/cold weather, lifting loads or carrying equipment weighing up to 20 kg/44 lb.
  • Includes office work as well as work travel (air and land), and on-farm activities in the presence of heavy equipment and crop inputs used in grower environments
