Project Manager - Capital Projects

Main Functions

Dynamic and experienced project manager to manage a  portfolio of engineering projects ranging from hundreds of thousand to multi-million dollars across two of our plants in the United States. The ideal candidate will possess strong leaderhip skills, technical expertise and a proven track record in managing Capital projects. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality stnadrads, while supporting the plants to improve overall performance.

  • Project execution : With a Front-End Loading approach, develop and implement project plans, including scope definition with plant staff, R&D, and other business unit personnel, engineering design, procurement activities, construction and commissioning and start-up.
  • Cost estimate and scheduling : prepare and manage cost estimates and project schedules to ensure projects are completed within budget and on time.
  • Stakeholders management: collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operations and external vendors to ensure project goals are met.
  • Permitting and compliance: manage all required permitting processes and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Risk management: identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliances with safety and regulatory standards, with a strong focus on process safety (including HAZOP) and environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) considerations.
  • Quality assurance: oversee the quality of project deliverables, ensuring they meet Lallemand's high standard and industry requirements, particularly in the food industry.
  • Communication: provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Continuous improvement: implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness, supporting the plants to improve overall performance;
  • Contract management and procurement: manage contracts and procurement processes for engineering equipment supply and contractors, including civil, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and automation services

Technical skills

Required

  • Experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment

An asset

  • Masters degree or PMP certification
  • Experience in Food industry
  • Process safety experience (HAZOP)

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
