Packaging Operator

Main Functions

Purpose:  The filtration, packaging, and shipment of fresh yeast products.  
 
Essential Functions:  
  • Utilizes packaging equipment, including rotary vacuum filters, bagging equipment, yeast cake extruder/wrapping extruder to prepare manufactured yeast for shipment.  
  • Troubleshoots all equipment, making adjustments/corrections when able. Initiates work orders for maintenance when required. 
  • Completes required general sanitation and housekeeping duties in assigned areas.  
  • Participates in the various Quality System programs including GMP/Sanitation, HACCP, ISO, and Safety.  
  • Provides back-up coverage for Shipping & Receiving Coordinator.

Technical skills

Required

  • Experienced in an industrial setting, preferably within a fast-paced, production driven food environment, is desired.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including telephone, calculator, computer, printer, fax, and copier.

Personal abilities

Required

  • Ability to work in cool environment. Packaging room temperature is 45-55 deg F; Cooler temperature is 25-30 deg F.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive and positive relationships with external and internal contacts.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal/external customers.
  • Ability to learn the inputs and printout of barcode system.

General criteria
