Laboratory Supervisor

Main Functions

Purpose:
Working under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Supervisor ensures that laboratory activities are carried in compliance with our standards, to generate accurate and repeatable data that can be relied upon, in an efficient manner.

Essential Job Duties:
• Supervises testing activities to ensure repeatability and reproducibility of data while preserving productivity and integrity.  
• Ensures all data is recorded correctly in the appropriate data repository (LEMS) in a timely manner.
• Champions a culture of excellence in the laboratory and strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's) 
• Maintains inventory, orders and ensures an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
• Always promotes a culture of health and safety in the laboratory
• Investigates deviations related to laboratory proficiency, methodologies or equipment
• Ensures that established testing frequency is followed by laboratory technicians
• Manages the laboratory equipment preventive maintenance and calibration program
• Participates in the implementation of new equipment and methodologies
• Participates in the monitoring of the environmental program (swabbing) as required
• Periodically reviews and audits laboratory technicians testing to ensure proficiency and compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Trains and coaches Laboratory Technicians
• Coordinates analyses done through external laboratories as required
• Participate in ring tests and other proficiency tests as scheduled
• Contributes to applying and coaching 5S principles in the laboratory
• Performs hands-on laboratory testing as required
• Takes disciplinary action as needed in collaboration with lab management
• Other duties may be assigned as needed, such as replacing the laboratory manager on occasion.

Required

  • Strong knowledge of good laboratory practices and good manufacturing practices
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in French and functional English
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS365 applications

An asset

  • Strong understanding of and/or experience complying with ISO 17025
