Process Engineering Designer

Main Functions

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineering Designer to support our engineering team in the design and optimization of industrial process systems. This role bridges the gap between process engineering and technical drafting, requiring both CAD proficiency and a solid understanding of process design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and plant layout drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to translate conceptual designs into detailed technical drawings.
  • Assist in the design and layout of piping systems, equipment, and instrumentation for industrial facilities.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
  • Participate in field verification and as-built documentation efforts.
  • Maintain drawing documentation and revision control.

Technical skills

Required

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with experience in process or industrial drafting.
  • Solid understanding of process engineering principles and industrial systems

An asset

  • Experience with P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and plant layout design.
  • Familiarity with ASME standards, piping codes, and drafting best practices

Personal abilities

Required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing job responsibilities.

General criteria

Required

  • Minimum associate degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Travel 30-50% to various locations as required.

An asset

  • Knowledge of industrial processes in the biofuels industry is a plus.
